It took Fernando Alonso just 21.910 seconds to get from pit lane entry, through the pits for a fresh set of tyres and back on to the track in racing trim during the first race of the 2012 Formula One season in Australia.
He had only been stationary for around three seconds.
Ferrari are still amongst the fastest teams in the pits in this video, thanks to experience in sportscar racing, but Niki Lauda still has to sit patiently for more than forty seconds in just the pit stop itself while changing to a set of slicks. It’s not quite as impressive an exercise in teamwork and co-ordination, but it’s great fun to watch.
