2012 Crawford River Classic VMX set for July 14 -15
A crisp and beautiful winter weekend in July will again see NSW’s premier vintage dirt bike club HEAVEN VMX conduct its successful vintage grasstrack meeting. Competitors travel from as far as Qld and Vic to be part of this spectacular weekend of racing.
The annual running of the Crawford River Classic event has become the premier race meeting on many competitor’s vintage motocross calendar.
Last year’s meeting attracted over 90 keen competitors. State pride will see the NSW riders keen to keep the trophies in NSW while no doubt the interstate riders will be equally keen to rain on our parade.
Trophy winners from last year’s Crawford River Classic were:
Roy East Memorial Trophy (pre 65) Mike Weller NSW
John Hine Memorial Trophy (pre 70) Carl Blecher NSW
Geoff Eldridge Memorial Trophy (pre 75) Greg Bilton NSW for the third year
Ray Ryan Memorial Trophy (pre 78) Justin Wiesmes NSW
The Trophies are aptly named after some of the most influential members of the Vintage Dirt Bike movement during its formative years and it is very appropriate that they are remembered annually in this way.
Heaven club invites anyone who has an interest in motorcycle racing to come to the circuit, located 3km on the Booral Rd 5 km south of Bulahdelah off the Pacific Hwy. Entry to the complex is free.
This event has been designed specifically to encourage Pre 65, Pre 70, Pre 75 and pre 78 classic dirt bikes out of the shed and onto the track!
The Bulahdelah Classic Motocross complex includes a number of circuits – the grass track was specifically styled by Jim Pomeroy for the demands of Pre 65, 70, 75 & 78 racers and is fun for evolution and pre 85 bikes as well. It is a natural terrain, wide, fast and green track that all “suspension challenged” bikes will enjoy.
