The Grand Prix de Monaco Historique is regarded as one of the most important historical car races and attracts seasoned automobile collectors, mainly from the USA, Germany, France and Italy. Over 200 cars having made their mark on their respective eras take part in each edition: models by Delage, Bugatti, Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Porsche, Maserati, Ferrari, and even the early Formula 1 cars (those built before 1979) from Brabham, Lotus or Williams.
Chopard’s official participation in this exceptional race underlines the close link between the company and historic motor sport. The Grand Prix Historique is an impressive retrospective of the golden days of motor sport and is on again in May 2010. As a tribute to the race, Chopard created its Grand Prix de Monaco Historique collection, a series of chronographs in a limited edition of 250 pieces available exclusively from Chopard boutiques. On the occasion of each race, Chopard presents a new model of the popular timepiece to the winning drivers, a tribute to their driving skill.
For the very first time since the creation of its collection dedicated to the prestigious historical car race, Chopard is launching a digital chronograph radiating an aura of distinctive elegance inspired by the powerful designs of the 1970s. The new Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Time Attack MF is bound to delight speed fans, who will be able to measure short times to within one hundredth of a second, and also features an impressive array of other functions.
The Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Time Attack MF features a black dial. The 1970s inspiration of this model is reflected in the generous hour-markers and the bright orange second hand. This fascinating decade is also liable to influence the future models in this collection. In addition to the steel version, the 42.5 mm case is also available in 18-carat rose gold. It can be fitted with a strap in leather or rubber with a 1960s Dunlop Racing tyre-tread motif, as well as a steel bracelet variation.
The Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique is expected to retail for US$3,670.
