Moss: Jenson’s not queer. Hope-Frost interviews Sir Stirling at Autosport International
MotorsportRetro.com writer Henry Hope-Frost conducts a classic interview with Sir Stirling Moss at the Autosport International: The Racing Car Show.
Henry asks Stirling. “Obviously, shortly after you retired, the money thing started. Do you think that was a good thing or a bad thing. This very restrictive corporate sponsorship that infiltrated racing in the late sixties? ” Moss replies. “If I arrived there to the race track, as long as I was there for practice and the race then I was free afterwards to go chasing the crumpet or anything else. Now of course you have to go and speak to Vodafone or all of the other sponsors. It wouldn’t have suited my way of life, no.”
Hope-Frost retorts ” I bet Jenson doesn’t tell me he chases crumpet after racing! I bet he won’t say that”. Moss replies ” No, but he’s not queer.”
Very entertaining stuff.
