Race in Retro Style: Senna Formula One Helmets
Historic motorsport is thriving, with wonderful events that range from small club meets to massive international extravaganzas held all around the world each month. There is a drive for every budget, and plenty of suitably retro gear to get you kitted out. But before you hop in your historic hot rod, you’re going to need something to protect the ole noggin’.
Cue these stellar replicas of Ayrton Senna’s Formula One helmets from the F1 Helmet Store. There are 14 liveries in all, covering his helmets from 1983 until 1994, and including a special ’10 Years’ helmet commemorating 2004’s ten year anniversary of his death in 1994.
The helmets are handmade in fiberglass, styled and hand painted to match period liveries and styles.
Senna isn’t the only classic champion getting the retro replica treatment. You can hit the track adorned in the helmets of other greats, such as Damon Hill, Niki Lauda, Nigel Mansell, Nelson Piquet, Alain Prost, Keke Rosberg and Giles Villeneuve, along with a few modern maestros like Alonso and Robert Kubica.
