Spa Classic: An Appointment for Prestigious Disciplines of Classic Motorsport
The Spa Classic is on again! It’ll be back on the 25th, 26th and 27th of May, bringing with it an enormous field of classic sports and racing cars from seven disciplines of classic motorsport.
New for the 2012 event are Formula One cars from ’66 to ’85, contesting rounds three and four of the FIA Historic Formula One Championship, and Historic Formula 2 cars from 1967 to 1978.
Joining them, and just as exciting, are Classic Endurance Racing machines like Lola’s T70, Porsche 935s and Ford GT40s, Group C monsters like the Mercedes C11, Nissan R90 and Porsche 962, Trofeo Nastro Rosso, and Sixties’ Endurance, pre-66 GT, Touring & Sports cars.
The Spa Classic will be held from the 25th to the 27th of May, 2012, at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. Read on for all of the details from the Spa Classic.

Spa-Classic will be back on 25, 26 and 27 May for a second edition on the much appreciated Spa-Francorchamps circuit. On this occasion, the new classic event will gather an exceptional grid with seven disciplines; two single-seater ones and five Sports, GTs and Prototypes.
Single-seaters …
For the first time, the FIA Historic Formula One Championship will participate in a by Peter Auto meeting. The Formula 1s from 1966 to 1985 will certainly draw the crowds for their two races. A unique opportunity to admire the models which made the greatest World Champions.
They will be joined by the Historic Formula 2 whose 1967 to 1978 single-seaters marked the category in the European Championship. These agile and fast cars will be eager to put on their show.

Peter Auto will not come empty-handed but with four grids:
As in 2011, Classic Endurance Racing will be split into two grids: CER 1 with the Protos 1 (1966-1972) & GT1 (1966-1974) and CER 2 with the Protos 2 (1973-1979) & the GT2 (1975-1979). Porsche 910, 911, 917 and 935, Lola T70, T280 or T298 BMW, Chevron B16 Mazda and Gulf Mirage, Ford GT40 and Ferrari Daytona … will all be there!
Sixties’ Endurance the pre-66 GT, Touring & Sports have also answered present. This three year old category is very successful and gathers a full grid. AC Cobra (well represented for its 50th anniversary), Porsche 356, 550 or 911 2 litres, Lotus XV and Elite, Lister Knobbly or again Jaguar Type E will all be on the starting line.
The Trofeo Nastro Rosso Italians make up an exceptional grid with models worthy of the greatest automobile museums such as: Maserati A6 GCS, ISO A3 C, Ferrari 250GT Berlinetta SWB or 275 GT, Alfa Romeo SZ and TZ …
The Group C Racing, regulars in by Peter Auto meetings will delight spectators with their fierce battles on the track. These cars are the icons of Le Mans; the officials: Porsche 962, Nissan R90, Mercedes C11, Peugeot 905 and the others – but just as fast – Spice and Cheetah.

In honour of Jacques Swaters founder of the Ecurie Francorchamps 60 years ago and deceased in 2010, the FF60 Rally will stop at the Spa-Classic welcomed by his daughter Florence. In tribute to the most famous Belgium Ferrari team, a selection of the most beautiful racing models with Spa-Francorchamps prize lists will be exhibited in the Spa Legend Club. A unique and not to be missed display.
