Motorsport Retro all set for Suzuki Classic Dirt 9
We are very bloody excited to be heading to Suzuki Classic Dirt 9 this weekend. For those of you not familiar with CD9, it is the worlds biggest and best non competitive vintage and classic dirt bike event, run by VMX magazine.
It’s three days of off road motorcycling celebration, catering for pre 1985 dirt bikes. The Legends of Aussie MX including Anthony Gunter, Jeff Leisk, Ray Vandenberg and Geoff Ballard will all in attendance and we can’t wait!
As for the Motorsport Retro crew, the boys have been busy tinkering and restoring bikes and as a result we will have a good selection of bikes to ride on the MX, Trials and Enduro tracks.
Here is a quick profile of the boys and their machines.
Jamie Pollack AKA Johnny Sport will be riding Muzz’s fire breathing 1982 Honda XR500. Sadly Muzz will be missing this weekend, but we salute him for the gesture. (DP)

John Finlayson, AKA Tong is taking a break from rounding up sheep and will be riding his 1984 Kawasaki KX 250.

Mitch Harrison AKA Beer Dog is hosting us for the weekend at his secret VMX resort, not far from the venue. Mitch’s key focus will be priming “snowmaster” the keg machine and making sure we are as well lubricated as the bikes….once the riding is over. He is bringing a 1984 Honda TLR200 and possibly another couple of early eighties red rockets.

One bike I can’t wait to ride is Justin Bowtell’s, AKA Bowies, 1981 RM465. This big bore 2 stroke beastie has been lovingly restored and should rip our arms clean off.

Mike “The Bike” Whelan is a VMX virgin, he is comimg along to throw a leg over anything on offer. Spare bike anyone?
