Video: Nigel Mansell knocks himself out
Submitted by Rich Fowler on October 19, 2013
Nigel Mansell must have been feeling pretty good by the end of October 1993 – he’d just become Indycar champion for the first time. The month wasn’t to end as well as it started however, with a quick stab at the TOCA Shootout turning into a disastrous, 120mph crash. Watch it here.
The car was a BTCC Ford Mondeo – just like that driven by Paul Radisich. Held at Donington Park, the event went astray for Mansell with six laps remaining when he lost control, clipped Tiff Needell and plowed into the side of the bridge at around 120mph – close to 200km/h!.
