Buy This Big Power Legend: 1974 Greenwood Corvette
John Greenwood’s white, red and blue Corvettes are the stuff of legend, and this one, up for sale at Grand Prix Classics, is one of his greats.
Raced to great success in ’74 and ’75, including five pole positions and two wins in theĀ 1974 & ’75 IMSA GT Championship seasons, this Corvette took full advantage of IMSA rule changes for 1974 to reach new heights in Corvette development. New wide body parts for the nose, tail and doors, coil-over suspension, trick chassis and a cross ram fuel injection system for its big block Chevrolet L88 race engines helped it go door to door with the best from BMW, Ferrari, Porsche and more.
That big power didn’t go to waste either – it claimed a top speed record of 236 miles per hour at Daytona International Raceway, outpacing even the fearsome GTP cars of the time.
It received an extensive restoration at the hands of Maeco Motorsports completed in 2009, at which point it was taken back to 1974 Greenwood Racing specification. Freshly race-prepared by Maeco Motorsports in 2010, the motor is putting out 718 horsepower and good to go.
Original and significant and in great condition with an extensive and successful race history, this car is up for sale at Grand Prix Classics and you can check out the full details here.
