Spend a few minutes getting to know the second to last 904 Carrera GTS built.
Recently sold for the princely sum of $1,650,000 at RM Auctions’ Arizona sale, this Porsche 904 is one of a very rare breed. It is one of just four 904 Carrera GTSes built in the spec of ‘Series 2’, which includes a reinforced chassis, centre-fill gas tank, short doors with pull-up plastic windows, better brakes and a very pretty reshaped “Kamm” ducktail.
It’s also believed that because these 904s were built near the end of their run, they were lavished upon more to ensure that every aspect was absolutely perfect.
Although it was originally sold with road equipment, the car went on to have a successful period racing career in the United States.
In this video we ride along for a drive through the countryside, set to the only music that matters – the song from the car’s beautiful 1,991 cc air-cooled horizontally opposed six-cylinder. The guys then get together for a chat about what sets this car apart as special amongst the universally-excellent Porsche 904s.
Set aside two minutes of your day for a spot of motoring meditation, and enjoy!
