This Team Trust 1990 Porsche 962C, up for sale at Canepa, is a stunning example of the latest and greatest in Porsche factory 962s. It’s also one of of the most original 962s around today.

The car, 962-170 was built by Porsche to FIA World Sportscar Championship configuration as a complete rolling chassis. It was sent to Japan in 1991 without a motor to save on customs duty, but its motor, 956 358, made its way over shortly after.

As the car was one of the very latest factory 962s built by Porsche, it benefited from all of the development work that had gone into the cars through their history. The brand new 3.2-litre turbo 962 motor represented the latest and greatest of Porsche’s factory specification 962 motors.

Trust used 962-170 as a testing car, so it only picked up a small number of track hours through the course of its period career. It also avoided the rough and tumble adventures of racing and so survived its career without any modification or damage. These factors mean that it survives today as an incredibly period correct and original machine.

It recently enjoyed a complete, no-expenses-spared restoration completed by the experts at Canepa and has been fully sorted, track tested and race readied. It’s eligible and welcome at historic racing events the world over and is sold with a current HMSA log book.

So often we look for an exciting race history when we look at historic racing cars. In this case, it’s the car’s lack of a racing history that makes it so special.
