Video: Longhurst and Morris biffo at Winton
This video has it all! Doorhandle to Doorhandle BMW E36 action around Lakeside Raceway, and then a bit of good-old-fashioned biffo when the racing gets a little too close and tempers run hot.
The video kicks off with Tony Longhurst and Paul Morris locked in a brilliant tussle for the lead of Race 2 of Round 3 of the 1994 Valvoline Australian Manufacturers’ Championship at Lakeside Raceway. The two are teammates driving for Tony Longhurst Racing, and they’ve had a great start to the season, locking up the top step for every race of the season up to that point.
That trend would continue after this race, with one of the two winning every race of the 1994 season. Tony Longhurst would go on to take the drivers’ title, with Paul Morris in second and BMW taking the constructors’ championship.
They’d need to navigate this race presenting a little bump along the way first, however. Paul Morris has the lead, with Tony Longhurst right on his tail. With laps running out fast Longhurst takes a punt up the outisde and the two end up touching wheels. Longhurst is out of his car before they’ve even come to a rest!
Enjoy the racing, and then a little giggle at the temper.
