Video: 1957 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Veloce is a Timeless Racer
Bradley Price and his 1957 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Veloce have historic racing down to its wonderful, pure essence. This video follows the pair as they drive out to Lime Rock for a weekend’s historic racing with the Vintage Sports Car Club of America.
“I think there’s a lot of people that are constantly messing with the car to get faster, when they should just be focusing on what they’re doing in the car. Because at the end of the day, you are the component of the car that needs the most work.”
Bradley really has his racing nailed. He drives his race car, a 1957 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Veloce, out to the track, unpacks and is good to go. Out on the track he’s focused on improving his consistency and driving, and just enjoying his time racing with likeminded people.
His approach is a great reminder that historic racing is an open, relaxed and fun way to enjoy some magic old cars, and to keep the golden era of motorsport alive and kicking. It doesn’t have to be about squeezing every drop of performance out of both machine and driver in a hyper-competitive fight for glory. Leave that to Formula 1 – we can have more fun with our mates in the old cars.
Speaking of old cars, Bradley bought his from a friend as a project with the aim of building something simple, elegant and reliable, with the pared-back feel of a barchetta. With tasteful period modifications, he’s turned this little 1300cc Alfa into a stunning racer that does everything it needs to.
The video, from Petrolicious, features great racing footage, is beautifully-shot as always and tells a story that has us inspired to get out and kick off a fresh year of historic racing. Enjoy it!
