Preparing the Stars and Cars for the 74th Goodwood Member’s Meeting
Back in February, Goodwood Road & Racing held a test day for competitors to shake down their machinery ahead of this weekend’s 74th Member’s Meeting.
They filmed the day, and the resulting video is full of great banter and awesome old race cars on song. Not to mention a handful of the trials and tribulations that will be very familiar to historic racers everywhere.
The 74th Goodwood Member’s Meeting will be held over the 19th and 20th of March, 2016, and offer a more casual approach to historic motorsport than Goodwood’s other major event – the Revival. With it, Goodwood aims to recreate the experience of the original British Automobile Racing Club events of the ’50s and ’60s.
The Member’s Meeting is all about cars, racing and the opportunity for competitors and spectators to get stuck in to both. If you’re going to get stuck into historic racing, however, you first need to make sure that your car is nicely sorted – especially if you’d like to partake in the pointy end of proceedings. And that’s what Goodwood’s test day was all about.
The video follows Paul Kite, Nigel Garret, Theo Paphitis, David Brabham and Tiff Needell as they prepare a collection of historic machinery ranging from a Brabham BT21 to a Chevrolet Camaro to go racing.
