Andrew Jordan in the Fastest Car He’s Ever Driven: a Porsche 962C
“The fastest car I’ve ever driven, or the fastest feeling car I’ve ever driven. When it comes on boost it’s really, really ridiculous.”
2013 British Touring Car Champion Andrew Jordan has a very good day at the office in this video, which puts him behind the wheel of a 1989 Porsche 962C to see how she goes.
The ex-Joest Racing Porsche is a 770 horsepower legend of the Group C era, and it has downforce to match the output of that turbocharged flat six.
Chassis #11 was the first of the chassis built for Joest at Weissach and their #1 car in 1989. Bob Wollek and Frank Jelinski were its two main pilots, and they were responsible for its win in the 1989 480 km of Dijon – Porsche’s last World Sportscar Championship win until their 919 Hybrid won the final round of the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship in São Paulo, Brazil.
It continued to race all the way through until 1993, moving to IMSA competition in 1991. In 1993 it received some serious development work to give it new bi-plane rear wings and an improved body that significantly boosted its downforce performance. With these upgrades it claimed second at Road America and third at Road Atlanta.
Andrew Jordan hops on board with the car still in that 1993 FATurbo livery and high downforce specification, and loves it.
Hit play and enjoy this historic Group C machine blasting past modern cars like they’re standing still.
