Peter Auto will host the 6th edition of the Spa Classic during the weekend of 13-15 May 2016. The Spa Classic has achieved the status of being one of the major meetings for classic cars on what is considered one of the most beautiful tracks in the world.
For the 6th edition the following Peter Auto grids see action: Classic Endurance Racing, Heritage Touring Cup, Sixties Endurance Racing and the Trofeo Nastro Rosso. Recently Group C Racing has come under the Peter Auto banner bringing back the prototype’s from the eighties and nineties to the Ardennes rollercoaster.
Classic Endurance Racing is the retrospective of endurance races held between 1966 and 1979 with cars such as Ford GT40s, Porsche’s 910 and 917, Ferrari’s 512S and M, BMWs etc. This year it will celebrate its thirteenth season. To meet the demand the field will be split into two divisions:
CER 1 – GT 1966/1974 1 Prototypes 1966/1971
CER 2 – GT 1975/1979 Prototypes 1972/1979
Very welcome to the Peter Auto banner is Group C Racing. Group C regulations led to the production of fabulous prototypes producing thrilling races in both the world championship and the Le Mans 24 Hours. For the 6th edition of the Spa Classic 23 prototypes fill the provisional entry list including Porsche 962s, Jaguar XJR-14 and XJR-16, a Peugeot 905 EV1B, different March and Spice cars and many more.
For the fans of classic touring cars the Heritage Touring Cup is a must see. The Heritage Touring Cup is a tribute to Spa-Francorchamps as the House of Touring Car Racing in the same way that Le Mans is the temple of endurance racing.
Thanks to the success of the Spa Classic, Peter Auto decided to revive this great era of the European Touring Car Championship (ETCC) between 1966 and 1984, and has given the Heritage Touring Cup a choice slot on its programme of events. It features cars such as the BMW CSL, Ford Capri, Rover Vitesse, Ford Escort, BMW 2002 and many more.
The largest field of the weekend will be the classic GT and Touring Cars from Sixties Endurance Racing. This year will be the seventh season of Sixties Endurance racing and feature a quality field of pre-63 World Endurance Championship cars and pre-66 GTs. In Spa over 70 cars are expected to participate in a 2-hour long endurance race.
Last but not least are the priceless classic Italian beauties of the Trofeo Nastro Rosso. Peter Auto created the series back in 2010 open to Sport and GT models from Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Bizzarrini, Iso, Ferrari, Lancia and Maserati before 1966.
