“So this is it. I’m absolutely papping myself at the moment.”
Evo’s Dickie Meaden talks us through what it’s like to drive an ex-Michael Schumacher Ferrari Formula 1 as a mere mortal. Complete with iconic late-’90s Formula 1 howl.
The car is Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari F300, which he drove during the 1998 Formula 1 World Championship season. The F300 was incredibly consistent and reliable, and saw either Schumacher or teammate Eddie Irvine climb the podium in all but three races throughout the season.
Schumacher was good in it as well, and would claim six grand prix wins in ’98 on the way to second in the drivers’ title. Mika Häkkinen would be champion that year, driving the McLaren MP4/13 – an Adrian Newey aerodynamic masterpiece.
The video’s a great look into the experience of fulfilling a dream that I’m sure most of us share.
