Preview: Spa Six Hours Set for a Spectacular Weekend of Racing

The Spa Six Hours, one of Europe’s most prestigious historic motor racing events, will be held on the legendary Spa-Francorchamps track, from September 16th until September 18th. Over the weekend 650 racing cars, spread over no less than 12 different races will treat fans with mouth watering racing.
The Spa Six Hours, organised by the Roadbook Organisation led by Alain Defalle and Vincent Collard, is a prestigious rendezvous bringing together the best European circuit series, giving prominence to Formula 1, Prototypes, GT and classic Touring cars.
The cherry on the cake is the renowned Spa Six Hours race, traditionally held on the Saturday evening, between 15.55hrs and 21.55hrs. Unique in its kind, the legendary six hour long endurance race will start on Saturday, September 17th at 16.00 p.m. featuring over 100 classic GTs and touring cars.
Amongst the vast grid of historic GTs and touring cars competing against each other in the 6 hours endurance race are no less than 13 Ford GT40s, as well as several Jaguar E-Types, Aston Martins, Shelby Cobras, TVRs, Ford Falcons, Alfa Romeos, Ford Mustangs, Porsches and a Ferrari 250 GT SWB Comp.
Like in earlier editions, some well known drivers will participate. For this year’s edition former F1-Ferrari, Benetton and McLaren-driver, 57-year old Austrian Gerhard Berger will be participating in the six hour endurance race. Berger will team up with Briton Richard Meaden in a Ford GT40.
Another personality, of a totally different kind, expected on the grid is Prince Rahim Aga Khan, eldest son of the Aga Khan IV. Married to top model Kendra Spears, Rahim Aga Khan, 44 years old, is a well-known figure among the elite. Aficionado of motorsport, he will be at the wheel of the Porsche 911 #43 which he will share with the renowned Swiss watchmaker Richard Mille. Another star driver is Briton Rob Huff, a former FIA WTCC world champion. Huff will also participate in the six hour endurance race in a Ford GT40.
Besides the action-packed six hour endurance racing on Saturday afternoon the event hosts the best European historic series, such as the FIA Masters Historic Formula One Championship, bringing together F1 cars from the ‘70s and the ‘80s, the FIA Masters Sports Car Championship (Prototypes), the Masters Gentlemen Drivers Pre-66 GT Cars, Pre-66 Touring Cars, 70s Celebration and Touring cars under 2 litres gathered into the U2TC brigade.
On top of that there are prestigious competitions such as the Woodcote Trophy and the Stirling Moss Trophy, the incredible Grand Prix cars ranging from the ‘20s through to the ‘60s, the British Sports GT & Saloon Challenge, the Historic Sports Car Club, and the official Formula Junior competition.
