This magnificent 1976 Lancia Stratos Group 4 Coupé will head to auction at Bonhams’ Grande Marques du Monde sale on the 9th of February.
This car, chassis 829 ARO 001827, is one of just shy of 500 cars Lancia produced for Group 4 homologation. The production variant, it features the same 2.4-litre Ferrari Dino V6 as the works cars, albeit with a less enthusiastic tune putting out around 190bhp. Its steel monocoque body tub and fibreglass body sit on fully adjustable independent suspension with four-wheel disc brakes to handle stopping duties.
This particular car is wrapped in the same livery as Lancia’s works cars – that of Italian airline Alitalia. It was purchased into Geneva, Switzerland and remained in the country through to 1998 when its current owner bought it.
It completed the Tour Auto in 1992 and 1993 and has run the Coupe des Alpes nine times between ’93 and 2014. Recent competition history includes the Rally of Corsica in 2012, 2013 and 2013 as well as the Gstaad Classic in 2006.
Its motor has been prepared by Ferrari specialist Garage Donati in Switzerland and has only covered 4,000 kilometers since a rebuild, putting it in prime condition to resume its rallying career.
The car will head to auction on the 9th of February at Bonhams’ Grande Marques du Monde sale, where it is expected to fetch between €350,000 and €450,000. For the full details, head to Bonhams’ website here.
